This solid stone memorial was commissioned by a private bird sanctuary. They actively looked for unwanted and sick pet birds in order to bring them back to health and allow them to fly free in their protected aviary. The birds rescued do not have extraordinarily long lives (such as parrots do), but they did everything possible to keep them happy.
The memorial was to the multitude of birds who lived out the remainder of their lives in such a good place.
