Stainless Steel and Glass

110cm x 36cm x 46cm (42″ x 14″ x 18″)

The Port Commissioner of Allyn, Washington happened to be driving by my studio and stopped in one day in 2021. He happened to catch me working on a similar glass piece and asked what I thought it would look like with the glass horizontal instead of vertical, and the rest, as they say, is history. He brought the idea back to the port commission, they loved it, and there it is.

I was nervous since it was for the Port of Allyn’s 100th anniversary and they had just removed a dangerously rotten totem pole from the location this was planned. Luckily, the pole wasn’t historically significant nor was it created by any of the local Indian Tribal Members. The Allyn Wave as they named it will stand the test of time for at least the next 100 years!  Stainless has an expected lifespan of 10,000 years while glass can last many times that.

It can be seen near the public dock in downtown Allyn, Washington.
